What does the Rental Protection Plan include?

The rental protection plan covers damages to rental items up to $250. This includes things like broken glasses, dents, scratches or other physical damage. Any damaged items must be returned to qualify for the damage protection. Missing items will be considered a non-return and will be charged full retail value of missing items as well as a $10 restocking fee.

What if something is damaged or missing?

Rentals are the responsibility of the renter. We do offer a Rental Protection Plan damage waiver that coves most damage that might reasonably occur. Find out more here.

Missing items: Missing items will be charged full retail replacement value plus a $10 restocking fee. Any damaged items must be returned to qualify. Uncleaned or improperly packed rental returns are not covered. Rental items requiring cleaning or extra repacking will be charged a fee accordingly. Intentional vandalism or damage. is not covered.

1. Overview

The Rental Protection Plan (RPP) is an optional limited damage waiver covering qualifying accidental damage up to the plan limit. It is not insurance. The plan costs 10% of rental fees, with a $10 minimum, and covers up to $250 in qualifying damage.

2. What Is Covered

The RPP covers qualifying accidental physical damage to rental items, including breakage, dents, or scratches. Coverage begins when the renter takes possession of the equipment through scheduled pickup or completed delivery and ends when the equipment is returned to or collected by Scratch & Rent.

All damaged items must be returned to qualify under the plan.

3. What Is Not Covered

Missing or unreturned items; full replacement cost plus the stated $10 restocking fee may apply
Cleaning or repacking charges
Intentional damage or vandalism
Damage caused by gross negligence or misuse

4. Cleaning and Repacking Fees

Rental items must be returned clean and properly packed. When cleaning or repacking fees are assessed, those charges apply regardless of whether the renter purchased the Rental Protection Plan. The plan does not cover cleaning or repacking charges.

Dinner service items: Dishware, cutlery, and glassware must be returned in “polish ready” condition, the same condition in which they were rented. Fee: $1 per item, subject to the $25 minimum per rental.
Larger equipment: Food service items, tools, tents, or other bulky equipment: minimum $25 cleaning fee; higher fees may apply for severe situations.
Tables, chairs, stanchions, and similar items: $5 per item after the $25 minimum.

5. Terms and Conditions

Participation in the RPP is subject to Scratch & Rent's Terms & Conditions. Customers must follow the applicable scheduled pickup, delivery, return, and collection instructions for the plan to apply.

The Rental Protection Plan is an optional limited damage waiver. It is not insurance and is not a substitute for general liability coverage.
